Georgia Russell tells us about her relationship to her work and the long path she went through before getting any recognition. Art is something that you must do for yourself without looking for fame. And to keep going it has to enrich you and to give you pleasure. If art is doing you good, then it should be enough to satisfy you because you can’t expect things to happen. A career in art is not easy, there is more and more competition, and a young artist needs perseverance.
Georgia Russell’s art evolved through the years and she keeps challenging herself every time she feels too much in a comfort zone. She hopes that in those difficult time her art is able to give pleasure or joy to the audience. This is the best recognition she can wish for.

Georgia Russell est une artiste écossaise connue pour ses oeuvres faites à partir de livres, dessins ou photographies qu’elle découpe au scalpel pour en faire des pièces en trois dimensions. Née dans une famille où l’art et la création sont très présents elle se tourne très vite vers des activités créatives. Un père architecte, un grand-père musicien de jazz, une grand-mère qui travaille dans une filature et fabrique des tartans et une tante parmi les premières femmes à étudier l’art à Aberdeen constituent le terreau de ce qui la poussera à rêver de devenir artiste. Sa passion, sa ténacité et son talent lui permettront d’entrer au Royal College of Art de Londres  où ses idoles, comme David Hockney, ont étudié avant elle.

Born into a family where art and creation are very present she turns very quickly to creative activities. An architect father, a jazz musician grandfather, a grandmother who works in a woolen mill and makes tartans and an aunt among the first women to study art in Aberdeen are the breeding ground for what will make her dream of becoming an artist. Her passion, tenacity and talent will allow her to enter the Royal College of Art in London where her idols, like David Hockney, studied before her.

L’artiste américain Augustine Kofie présente sa troisième exposition solo à Paris. BUILD FROM MEMORY se tient à la Galerie Openspace du 25 février au 1er avril 2017.

Autodidacte issu de l’illustration et du graffiti qu’il a exercé plus de 20 ans, Kofie a poussé son art jusqu’à l’abstraction. Partant des lettrages qu’il déconstruit et déstructure, il créée des toiles abstraites, sortes de constructivisme urbain notamment à partir de matériaux et vieux documents récupérés. Dans Build From Memory, il rend hommage à toutes ses années pendant lesquelles il a développé son style aussi inspiré du dessin industriel et qualifié de Graffuturisme.

American artist Augustine Kofie presents his third solo exhibition in Paris. BUILD FROM MEMORY is shown at Galerie Openspace from February 25th to April 1st 2017.

Self-taught artist coming from illustration and graffiti he practiced for more than 20 years, Kofie has pushed his art to abstraction. Starting from the letters he deconstructs and destructures, he creates abstract paintings, sort of urban constructivism built from found materials and old documents. In Build From Memory, he pays tribute to all his years in which he developed his style also inspired by industrial design and called Graffuturism.
