La photographie, au delà de la technique, est évidemment une question de mise en scène. L’artiste japonais Daisuke Takakura en use abondamment dans sa série Monodramatic. Également formé au théâtre classique, il souhaite en “Exploiter la puissance expressive dans une image fixe.” Il s’est inspiré du Nô où le rôle principal, le Shite, incarne des rôles multiples passant d’une forme humaine à celle d’une divinité au moyens de masques. Et plus particulièrement pour cette série, du genzai nō, où l’interprète est tourné vers les différentes expressions des sentiments humains. Le photographe explore ainsi les multiples facettes de chacun et pose la question du “soi”.

Photography, beyond technique, is obviously a matter of staging. The Japanese artist Daisuke Takakura uses it extensively in his Monodramatic series. Also trained in classical theater, he wants to “harness the expressive power of theater in a still image.” He was inspired by the Noh where the main role, the Shite, plays multiple roles from human form to a deity using masks. And especially for this series of the genzai noh, where the interpreter is focused on the various expressions of human feelings. The photographer thus explores the many facets of each of us and raises the question of “self”.
