Il est rare d’avoir deux passions et de pouvoir les suivre. L’américain Corey Arnold a réussi à concilier la pêche, qu’il exerce depuis son enfance et dont il a fait son métier, et la photographie un art qu’il pratique quotidiennement. Inspiré par le travail de Peter Beard, Sally Mann ou Joel Sternfeld il s’intéresse aux perceptions et aux rapports que l’homme a avec la Nature. L’artiste qui a notamment passé quatre ans en Norvège et sept ans en Alaska à pêcher dans la mer de Bering a rapporté des clichés des zones de pêche parmi les plus rudes et les plus reculées au monde. Une forme de cure du corps et de l’esprit pour lui : ”C’est tellement agréable de sortir et faire quelque chose de physique, cela rajuste complètement votre esprit. La pêche est parfaite pour ça ; je rentre chez moi fort et revigoré.”

It is rare to have two passions and to follow them. The American Corey Arnold managed to reconcile fishing and photography. He’s indeed a fisherman, being introduced to fishing by his dad during his childhood, and a photographer exhibiting in fine art galleries. Inspired by the work of Peter Beard, Sally Mann and Joel Sternfeld he is interested in perceptions and relationships between man and nature. The artist who notably spent 4 years in Norway and 7 years in Alaska trawling in the Bering Sea took back shots of fishing grounds among the harshest and most remote in the world. A kind of cure to him, “It’s so nice to go out and do something physical, it completely readjusts your mind. Fishing is perfect for that, I come home strong and refreshed.“
